The Mens and Ladies LJMU Volleyball teams


If you where to describe the LJMU volleyball teams in one word you would find it difficult. Words which come to mind would be: fun, competitive and exciting. The Men’s and Women’s teams both compete in BUCS leagues 2A one league below the top division which has teams with full England internationals amongst their ranks. Last year the men’s team narrowly missed out on promotion but failed at the last hurdle, whilst the newly formed girl’s team went from strength to strength.

With a few new players we should both be challenging for promotion. Don’t worry if you can’t even catch a ball, all skill levels are welcome, and even if people don’t even want to play they are all welcome on team nights out.


Training for teams will usually be on Monday nights (men’s) 6-7, while girls will be 8-9 on a Tuesday night. We will try to mix the sessions as much as possible to get the men’s and girl’s teams working together. Getting down to the most important bit nights out, all nights out will be joint men’s and girl’s together, as this is my last year I would like to finish on a high, so there will as many nights out as possible including a fresher initiation for all the newbie’s, also links have been established for the joint nights out with the netball teams and Men’s football teams. Also if the numbers are good we are hoping to go on tour with the rest of the LJMU teams to Salou where 8000 students descend upon the small Spanish Town.


A typical match day will involves the team meeting at a select location, travelling to the match, getting a win (obviously) and returning back to Liverpool and putting our fancy dress on for Medication the messiest night in Liverpool, in Med both the Men’s and Ladies teams have a free crate of alcohol.
