Description of Club
• The club currently fields one team and last season the lads went unbeaten all year, winning the league (BUCS North- 3A) and Northern Conference Cup in the process, defeating teams along the way such as Lancaster (who were 2 leagues above us), Salford, Liverpool Hope and easily beating York in a memorable final. The team showed excellent commitment all season and gelled together brilliantly throughout.
• The club welcomes players (or even non-players) of all abilities and next season we are planning on entering a 2nd XI into the league.
• The club is all about training hard and playing hard on the field which resulted in our unbeaten run. But we like to enjoy ourselves off it. We’re all about having great weekly social events to encourage a fun element in being a member of the society.
• Anybody is welcome to be a part of the society and attend social events. The more members in the society the merrier!
What is planned for the 2011-12 Season?
• The 1st XI were promoted this season and will next year compete in the BUCS Men’s Northern Cricket League in division 2A and will also look to defend the conference cup.
• Games in the summer season take place on Wednesdays and Sundays, starting in mid April and finishing in mid May. Due to the university year finishing around May, this is a short season crammed into a time-span of around a month, and so there its lots of cricket played during this time.
• We do not wish to wait until April however until we play competitive games, so we plan on entering a local indoor league beginning in mid October.
• We will also enter the BUCS Indoor tournament that with the first round taking place in early November at Lancashire County Cricket Club.
• Trials will take place on 2nd October 2011. Anyone is welcome to attend, and we will select a squad following this date. However all abilities are welcome as we are planning on fielding a 2nd XI in the 2012 season, and even if you are more of a social, non-playing type but are still interested in cricket, then you are more than welcome to attend any events/games that take place and still be an active member of the society.
• There is also the possibility of a foreign tour taking place in March during a reading week.
• We will also be going on a tour in August of 2012, most probably to Newquay in Cornwall.
Training
• Indoor training will take place on Monday nights at 8pm at St.Margarets high school in Aigburth, running from October until March.
• Here there will be structured training sessions from qualified coaches (students). We are fortunate to have a number of UKCC2 qualified coaches. If you are interested in having a coaching role for any reason, then don’t hesitate in emailing and we may find things for you to do!
Any queries regarding training, trials, matches etc, then please don’t hesitate to email me on C.A.Kirby@2009.ljmu.ac.uk.
Social Events
• Social events will take place weekly on Wednesday nights, but the society is very spontaneous about this and it may be we will be out on various different nights, as every night in Liverpool is a student night out!
• But there will definitely be an event/night out on Wednesday nights where there may be various different themes from week to week. We usually meet in Revolutions bar in the Town Centre, have a few drinks there then move onto Medication. We may meet in Scream bar or the Student Union bar, depending on what events are taking place.
• There will also be an initiation for new members of the team, which will take place in Mid-October following trials.
If you have any queries about Social events and Initiation, then please email Will Baines our Social Sec on W.Baines@2010.ljmu.ac.uk

Any information about trials, training, matches, social events etc, please email Chris Kirby or see members of the team at the freshers fair.
We also have a facebook page. Search for Ljmu Cricket and feel free to add us as a friend! The email address is ljmucricket@gmail.com.
If you have any questions, queries or concerns about anything, then don’t hesitate to ask on the facebook page or alternatively email me on C.A.Kirby@2009.ljmu.ac.uk.
Good luck and we hope you enjoy your time at John Moores!
